Summertime is Vacay Time. The favorite season of the year for most. The weather is warm, the streets are lively and the vibes are chill. plus everyone’s taking a break from school and jobs (except if you dream of labor ). Therefore, summer is a time to unwind, try new stuff, or pick up on that hobby you were putting on hold because you don’t have time for it. Summertime is finite but the vibes are unlimited, which is probably why everyone tries to make the best out of it every time it rolls around. Below are 10 fun summer ideas that you should add to your summer plans to make the season a memorable one. So, With no further ado;

1. Travel

Yes! As hinted earlier, summertime is vacay time. Summer is the best season with the best weather. Outdoors are as cozy as the indoors, no need to wrap yourself up, you move freely as the city’s vibrancy blooms uncovered. In other words, you could travel to almost any destination and enjoy the full package experience that that city or country has to offer. Thus, this season is a great opportunity to stretch your feet and see further than the horizon to gain new experiences, perspectives, and memories that you can delightly look back at in retrospect years later. Seize this Summer season and give yourself a gift of a little adventure.

2. Parks

Heck, Russians will ask me why if I didn’t put this one in lol. Due the way the climate is in this part of Europe; autumns tend to be windy, winters are cold and come spring time it drizzles all day long. Thus, only Summer gives the best opportunity to walk and stretch in calm sunny weather. Parks are filled with activities, amusements and themes.

They give off this Vibe of connecting back with nature, almost to say “just slow down and be in the present”. There are a lot of greenery, fountains, jogging routes, ponds/lakes, sport courts (eg volleyball, basketball), refreshment stands, eateries, monuments, picnic areas, public bikes & scooters, organized events/ activities that you can engage in and other attractions. As a result, there’s so much you can do with friends in parks. More over, different parks give different themes and vibes. ESpecially for my Moscow people, there are as much parks in Moscow as there are stars in the sky. So, pick one, pic a date and go have fun when the sun shines.

Personally, out of the numerous parks here in Moscow, my favorite park to visit is VDNH. It’s gives the most varitey of themes and is HUGE! is like walking in a castle. Consequently, there’s just so much you can see, do and try in VDNH park.

Do make sure to check other subsequent ones too, you shall not be disappointed.

3. New Hobby

Hobbies are those gems in life that enrich our lives and put color in our routines. They make life exciting to live and refreshing to be part of. But as great as they are, due to our fast-paced world today they might prove difficult to even get into. Summer is the time of the year in which you can pick up a hobby or a personal interest that you have been thinking about but just haven’t had the time to act on.

This could be anything: a sport you fancy, fitness, something artistic like painting or sketching, coding, photography, and so on. This offseason might be the perfect time to act on that desire – that thing you want to try, and gradually weave it into the rest of your life. So this summer, act on those plans and interests you have been romanticizing about – This is the time to make it a reality.

4. Internship

This is where you get to be selfish with your time and dive yourself into a project that will further your growth exponentially. Internships and volunteer work are great avenues that you can jump into. They’re something different from your usual routines, and you come out as a better individual. These types of activities enrich you with new experiences and their effects can last a lifetime.

How ever internships usually require focused expendable time. Some things can be too big to fit in on the weekends. Summertime is the one time you actually got time for yourself. The summertime gives you weeks upon weeks of expendable time with an empty calendar in the background. This give’s you an opportunity to advance yourself in your field and add more exp to your skillbox.

5. Volunteer

Usually, when you hear volunteering, you hear charity. Just given without receiving anything in return. At first glance anyways, that’s what it might look like. But actually, the fastest way to empower yourself is to empower others. After all, you can’t empower someone else if you yourself “have nothing to offer”. You giving to someone else gives you a vote of credit that you do have something to offer (and we all have something we can offer others).

the way I see it, volunteering is a short circuit to the game of life – a shortcut. If you think about it, the whole journey of going to school, working, or earning money is to provide value to society. It’s an exchange. I.e. You work (provide value ) and you get compensation in the form of money. But when you work without expecting any monetary reimbursement. You get the best kind of payback which money can’t match. It’s one of those virtues that you can not put a price tag on (like gratitude). Giving just for the sake of it is one of the most fulfilling virtues you can gift yourself. Volunteering – offering a helping hand while expecting nothing in return is an experience that will live with your being richer and enlighten your spirit.

6. Sharpen your bonds

Remember the point about us living a fast-paced life? Today we tend to be busy with school, busy with work, busy being busy that sometimes we neglect the things that actually matter – our bonds. This is our family (once the only companions we knew) and our close friends that we have lived through a lot with.

As life has it, we get so engrossed with our lives that we forget to raise our heads up and take notice of our kinships (not that this was our intention). And as life goes, we break out into our different life paths that we are individually trekking thus growing asunder with each other.

We all had that moment when our minds fall on the memory of someone we used to know. We reminisce about days and times when we were always together. And now…things are different…things have changed….it’s no longer like before, those days feel more like a dream once had and barely remembered.

This summer is a great time, as life’s pace is slower, to reconnect back on those bonds and water them. Our close ties are the things that make the struggles of life bearable and the fruits we get from our sweat, sweeter. Our bonds make life worth living for.

7. Explore the city streets

I bet the Russians are nodding in agreement again (IYKYK). Summer is the best opportunity to go on walks, the weather literally beacons for it. Just walking down the street and socking in all the sites on-ground and vitamins above is refreshing. What’s better is the sense of discovery and adventure. Things are always changing, things are always being upgraded. It could be your hometown that you have lived in all your life, but just go away for a year and come back. It’s going to feel different, with a foreign whiff about it.

The summer season gives you a chance to go on a city hunt and explore the new hidden gems that the city has been brewing. So grab a couple of your buddies and go for a walk at the “other” side of town, you would be sure to find something that you weren’t expecting. You might just discover a new hotspot that you can take your other friends when they come to your city.

8. Go Camping/Hiking

This is an experience that you are bound to remember. I remember going to camp in 11th grade for 10 days and it’s one of my most vivid and surreal memories to date. There is a lot that the practice of diving deep into the wild and connecting back to the mother has to offer. Couple that with living the experience with others around you is bound to leave a dent as a worthy memory of adventure. Especially for people that live in colder climates, summer is the optimal time to go camping and hiking. So gear up, gather a couple of daring & worthy comrades and wonder into the woods this summer. (Disclaimer: always make safety a priority. choose a safe & approved destination and go with an experienced person who can guide you through the whole experience).

9. PaintBalling

Just thinking about it makes my fingers tingle. COD vibes ๐Ÿ’ฏ. This is a team, action-filled outdoor-themed activity. Thus Summer is the time to capitalize on this. The rules are simple, “shoot and don’t get shot”. The number of players can range from 3 to 6 per team. And here teamwork and good coordination are vital. This is where the team with the best strategy and plan execution acumen gets to shine. Fun is not even the word, adrenaline is an understatement. It’s an experience you got to live to know. So call your local paintball joint, make a booking and gather on the battleground with brothers at arms.

10. BBQ

Oh Yes! I Can feel the warmth from the BBQ stand, the whiff of oil oozing from the meat and dripping into the red coals below, the sound of sauce marinating with sweet-cut-flesh and the dopamine rush in anticipation of the first bite. Nothing screams BBQย  more like dry soil and the sun above the sky, summertime is BBQ o’clock. And you know what they say โ€œ Nothing brings people together more than Food especially when there is meat involved ;)โ€œ. Grab some poultry/beef, homemade sauce & seasoning, a side dish (donโ€™t forget some company) and go outside for a refreshing and appetizing afternoon.

ย ย  And there you have it! 10 activities that are sure to make this summer a memorable one. Donโ€™t forget to like and comment down below your thoughts, summer plans you are excited about, and any other summer gem that wasnโ€™t mentioned.ย
